RACE DETAILS

Getting There
To get to the race site, exit Lakeshore Drive at the Montrose, Wilson, Foster, or Lawrence exits. To help prevent backup and delays, you may want to avoid the Wilson exit.

Parking
Metered parking is available in the Wilson, Montrose and Foster lots. Free parking is available on both sides of Simonds Drive between Foster and Montrose. The closer you'd like to park to the start, the earlier you should arrive. As always, we recommend carpooling and taking public transit when possible.

  • Wilson Lot
    • Due to event setup, you can only enter the Wilson lot from Wilson. The alternate entrance off Simonds will be closed. If you arrive at the Wilson lot before 6:00 AM, parking will be a flat $5.00 and will be valid until 1:00 PM. If you arrive in this lot after 6:00 AM, parking can be purchased at the regular rate of $.25 an hour from 6:00 – 9:00 AM and $1.00 per hour after 9:00 AM.
  • Montrose Lot
    • Meters turn on at 5:00 AM. You can purchase time at the regular rates of $.25 per hour from 6:00 – 9:00 AM and $1.00 per hour after 9:00 AM.
  • Foster Lot
    • You cannot pay for parking in this lot until 6:00 AM. We recommend only using this lot if absolutely necessary. It is the farthest from the starting area and you will not be able to pay for parking before 6:00 AM. After 6:00 AM parking will cost the regular rates (see Montrose Lot above).

There is NO parking available at the South Shore Cultural Center (finish line). This is different than in years past. Please be advised any cars parked at the South Shore Cultural Center will be towed.

Scroll down for more on post-race transportation.

Course
The 2011 Newton Ready to Run course will begin at Wilson and Simonds and run north for a little bit before heading south towards the finish line at the South Shore Cultural Center. Runners get to experience 20 miles of the lakefront path -- run top to bottom!
Race staging will take place in the Wilson parking lot.

Check out the course map here.

Aid Stations
Approximately 10 aid stations will be available on course. Each aid station will offer both water and Gatorade. The aid station near mile 12 will also serve Clif SHOT Energy Gel (Mocha + Caffeine, Razz®, Vanilla and Citrus + Caffeine flavors). You can view all of the aid stations on the course map. Special thanks to Fleet Feet Sports for managing each aid station.

Wave Start
To ensure your safety, the Newton Ready to Run 20 Miler uses a wave start. Waves will include approximately 50 runners and will go off every 30 seconds. Waves will be indicated by your bib color. You can also find your wave number and start time on your bib. You will receive your wave assignment at packet pickup. For the safety of all runners involved, waves will not be changed.

Group leaders will be carrying signs with each wave number and pace. Please find your appropriate wave in the staging area to get Ready to Run!

Gear Check
Gear check will be available at the starting line. Participants will drop their gear (with gear check tag) at a bus at the starting line. Gear will then be transported to the finish line for pickup. It is important to check your gear at the appropriate bus to ensure it is available for you at the finish line! Buses will be labeled with a range of numbers that correspond to your bib number. Please note, the first gear bus will be leaving the site at 6:30 AM, so plan accordingly and arrive early.

Participants of the Newton Ready to Run 20 Miler will have several convenient packet pickup locations available. There is NO race day packet pickup.
