Robert Wiegand

CARA Race Committee

Robert Wiegand grew up as a competitive soccer player and swimmer. After college, running became a means to work out and relieve stress. He ran his first race in 2003. In 2004, he was coaxed into his first marathon and promptly vowed never to run one again… Two weeks later, he signed up for another one and has fallen in love with the sport ever since. Robert has now run over 20 marathons. In 2014, he PR’d with a 2:36:26. He has been competing actively on the CARA circuit since 2006.

Along the way, he has learned the value of teamwork in running. He has been an active member with both the Fleet Feet Racing Team and the Track and Trough Athletic Union. Both organizations have become excellent outlets for training partners and dear friends. Robert is from Buffalo, NY, graduated from R.I.T., and moved to Chicago in late 1999. He lives in Lincoln Park and works in the loop as a portfolio manager / financial analyst. He trains mostly on the lake front path or occasional weekends in the Barrington Hills.
