CARA believes everyone deserves the chance to experience the benefits of running, and neither financial burden nor where we call home should be an impediment to seizing that opportunity.
That's why in 2016 CARA partnered with the Chicago Park District to launch a series of free, timed runs in neighborhood parks. 'Go Run offers one mile and 5K fun runs every Saturday morning for eight consecutive weeks, promoting community involvement and removing barriers to personal success.
After two seasons, 'Go Run has served more than 3,000 finishers - individuals of all ages and abilities - and energized neighborhood residents to come together, both as runners and volunteers, to create something truly inspiring.
With your help, we can do more. Please make a donation to help 'Go Run expand its footprint and make an even greater impact in 2017.
Next year CARA plans to extend 'Go Run to operate three seasons long and serve in excess of 5,000 runners.
But we're going to need your help to get us there.
The cost to develop and execute three simultaneous 'Go Run sites for spring, summer, and fall sessions is $40,000. And while this is no small amount, with an estimated finisher rate of 5,000 runners, a tax-deductible donation of just $8 will allow one neighborhood resident to receive a full 24 weeks of supported, community-centered programming.
'Go Run empowers neighborhoods to establish their own running community - enabling runners to find within themselves and the places they live the resources they need to start and keep going.
Please give today, in whatever amount you can, and together we can continue to provide this vital program in 2017.
