Free timed 1 Mile and 5K runs in local parks
'Go Run is a community partnership between the Chicago Area Runners Association and the Chicago Park District with an objective to activate neighborhood parks, build communities and encourage active lifestyle through running and volunteerism. 'Go Runs aim to become a core part of neighborhood culture, encouraging organic community engagement at, and long after, each run.
After two seasons, 'Go Run has served more than 3,000 finishers - individuals of all ages and abilities - and energized neighborhood residents to come together, both as runners and volunteers, to create something truly inspiring.
'Go Runs are open to everyone who is interested in coming out to their neighborhood park to race, run, jog, walk and volunteer. Long-time runners, newcomers, families and children are invited to take part. Runners with strollers and dogs on leash are also welcome. The volunteers at each ‘Go Run are as important to the mission of the program as are the runners and walkers. Volunteers are needed to help support each run, and also to encourage greater community engagement at each.
One registration enters you participate in all 2017 'Go Runs. Only register once per calendar year.
Volunteers may sign-up for individual dates through the year.
'Go Run will occur at Humbolt Park, Warren Park and Washington Park on all dates listed (dates still tentative)

Our goal is to bring the community together in local parks to enjoy running. 'Go Runs are grassroots events. Expect a laid back, fun, community atmosphere. Water and Gatorade will be provided. Bathrooms open 30 minutes prior to the run. There will be a display clock at the finish and timed results that will be posted online quickly after the run.
Many will run hard like a race, others will just run, jog or walk. Strollers and friendly dogs on a leash are welcome. Those in wheelchairs are also encouraged to join in. Bicycles, skates and other wheeled items are not permitted.
At 9:00am we will gather all participants at the start line for quick announcements, then we will begin the run shortly after.
Connect with us on social media on facebook (www.facebook.com/gorunchicago/) for pictures, runners education and tips, announcements and to connect with fellow 'Go Run participants.
