Event Details

About 'Go Run

'Go Run occurs weekly at local Chicago Parks. On March 27th, the Chicago Park District, Chicago Run, the Chicago Area Runners Association, and CARA's Austin Running Crew have partnered for the Move Your Way Teen 'Go Run at Columbus Park!

All teens are welcome to us to - Race, Run, Jog, Walk, Volunteer - 'Go Run!

 

'Go Runs are FREE and open to anyone in our effort to make running enjoyable and accessible to all, both newcomers, and long-time runners alike. Through 'Go Run, CARA, and the Chicago Park District have an objective to activate neighborhood parks, build communities and encourage an active lifestyle through running and volunteerism.

Event Day Schedule

  • 10:00 a.m. - Venue open (Please do not arrive early as part of our COVID safety gathering guidelines)

  • 10:20 a.m. - Group Warm-Up by Chicago Run

  • 10:30 a.m. - Start / Announcements

 

Registration [REGISTER]

  • Cost: FREE

  • Eligibility: Open to those 18 & younger only (Others may check out www.gorunchicago.org)

  • Registration Opens: Monday, March 15, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.​

  • Registration Closes: Friday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. or when capacity is reached (There is no registration at the event)

  • Capacity: 50 persons (non-registered persons may not participant due to COVID guidelines). Families should limit additional attendance to one person at the event site. Other family must remain outside the event area.

Course

  • Description: The course is entirely within Columbus Park. Participants may choose to run/walk a 5K (3.1 Miles) or a One-Mile course. The start takes place on the path at the end of Golf Drive within Columbus Park. The 5K will follow the blue arrows for two loops of the park before finishing. The One-Mile will follow the white arrows for a out-and-back route.​

Check-In

  • Participants must pick up a bib number between 10:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. from the blue tent.

Travel / Parking

  • Parking: Free parking is available within the park off of Golf Drive.

  • Public Transit: CTA Bus 126 lets off at the corner of Jackson Blvd.and Menard Dr. From there, walk east on Jackson, and then south on Golf Dr. Bus 12 and 85 let off at Central Ave. and Harrison St. From there follow the park path northwest into the park.

  • Ride Share: Those traveling to the event by ride share should drop off at the south end of Golf Dr.

  • Bike: A DIVVY station is located at Central Ave. and Harrison St. From there, follow the park path northwest into the park. 

Event Capacity / Finish Cut-Off

  • Participation will be limited to 50 persons. Families of participants should only have one parent or guardian attend within the event area.​

 

Participant Guidelines / Expectations​

  • Do not participate if you are feeling sick or ill, and or have a fever, or if you have been in contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19. 

  • Persons from high-risk groups for COVID-19 complications should consult their physician before participating.

  • Do not engage in traditional forms of physical contact (handshakes, high-fives, hugs, partner stretching, etc.).

  • Do not engage in close group pictures/selfies.

  • Only spit or blow nose into a tissue or handkerchief.

  • Do not share personal items, such as hydration, energy gels, towels, etc.

  • Wear a mask or face covering while gathering pre- or post-run, and anytime they are within six feet of others. Runners may remove their face cover while running when they can maintain social distance.

  • Comply with any State of Illinois and Cook County travel orders.

  • Participants may be required to exit the event should their actions not meet expectations and or they are creating risk for themselves or others.​

Mask  / Facecovers

  • Participants must wear a mask or face cover at any time they are at 'Go Run.

  • Masks and face covers may be removed after the start while on-course when physical distancing is maintained. Volunteers and staff will wear a mask or face cover at all times

Hydration

  • Participants are encouraged to self-carry a personal hydration bottle or pack. Bottled water will be available post-run.

Spectators / Non-Participants

  • Families of participants should only have one parent or guardian attend within the event area.

Gear Check

  • There is no gear check. Please only bring items you intend to run/walk with.

 

Results

Pets

  • If your dog is friendly and well behaved in large groups you’re welcome to bring your dog. Please have your dog on a leash, abide by all Chicago Park District regulations and also please line up behind other participants at the start.

Strollers

  • Strollers are welcome, but for safety reasons those with strollers please line up behind other participants at the start. Through the run please stay aware of your surroundings as the park paths are not closed for these events.

Wheelchairs

  • Please join us! Please note, the 5K route does include some non-paved sections. The One-Mile is on paved trails.

Bikes / Skates

Please, no bikes, skates, skateboards or other wheeled devices other than wheelchairs or strollers.

Volunteer

'Go Run relies on volunteers at each 'Go Run to help with check-in, registration, start/finish line, hydration, and course marshaling. No experience is needed. Volunteer shifts are generally 9:30am to 11:45am. To volunteer, click the sign-up button at the top this page.
