Supporting the Chicagoland community year-round!
CARA hydration stations, collaboratively supported by Fleet Feet Chicago and Gatorade Endurance, provide trail users hydration along the Chicago Lakefront Trail, as well as at various trailheads at suburban CARA training sites.
Hydration stations serve water and Gatorade Endurance Formula, a specialized sports drink formulated with nearly 2x the sodium and 3x the potassium of traditional Gatorade. Gatorade Endurance Formula contains no artificial flavors and has a light taste. Gatorade is served on the course at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and properly hydrating at CARA hydration stations will ensure runners are prepared for their individual hydration needs on race day.
Stations are welcoming to all trail users. Stations provide compostable cups from self-service dispensers, and fluids are dispensed from coolers with high-flow spouts. Users are encouraged to self-carry a bottle or collapsible cup for station refill, to support sustainability efforts and to reduce trash.
Volunteers are needed to help operate stations. Interested persons can email: firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up.
