Team CARA

Raise funds as a Team CARA charity runner at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

At CARA we know running is more than sport; running changes lives! The funds you raise as a Team CARA charity runner allow CARA to remove the barriers associated with getting involved in organized running, so everyone has access to the incredible benefits running offers.

Through CARA's 'Go Run and Run Crew programs, we aim to make running accessible for every neighborhood around Chicagoland, with a specific focus on developing opportunities in organized running in Chicago's South and West sides.

‘Go Run is a partnership between CARA and the Chicago Park District with an objective to activate neighborhood parks, build communities and encourage an active lifestyle through running. These series of free, timed One-Mile and 5k runs, aim to be an integral part of neighborhood culture, encouraging organic community engagement at each run. Operating in different neighborhood parks around Chicago, ‘Go Run has the capacity to reach the community in an environment that naturally integrates families, neighborhoods, and encourages community engagement.

CARA Run Crews are an increased effort to make running accessible to all. Launched late 2020, CARA Run Crews bring opportunities in organized running to neighborhoods around Chicagoland.

I am running for Team CARA 'Go Run because of two reasons: 1. A marathon has always been on my athletic bucket list of accomplishments
2. I liked the list of organizations CARA supports I chose CARA specifically because my mom was a part of CARA when she ran her 10 straight Chicago Marathons. By her doing this, it inspired my older to join and run his only marathon as a part of CARA. Then my younger sister did the same thing, I believe she has run three marathons. Now it's my turn to really show them how it's done. I am trying to get the best time in the family. My aunt is also a runner in Indianapolis and has qualified for Boston numerous times. https://fundraisers.hakuapp.com/joseph-dwyer

I am 50 years old and training to run my first marathon. I have chosen to train with and support Team CARA to obtain coaching, motivation and group support to accomplish this goal. I am running for my three children (Kaila, Keegan and Kaelen) to show them that they can accomplish anything that they want and at any age in life. I am participating with Team CARA for the first time and look forward to doing my absolute best! https://fundraisers.hakuapp.com/kevin-angeles

I am running for charity for the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon because I think it's an amazing opportunity to give back while challenging myself. Running provides me with an outlet to escape all of the hustle and bustle that everyday life brings and take a moment to myself. I want to help people find that same escape.
I chose to support Team CARA 'Go Run because of my mother! She has been a part of the 'Go Run leadership for many years and has been a previous Team CARA 'Go Run charity runner, and she inspires me to do the same.

I've had the opportunity to participate in 'Go Run and it's such a positive, encouraging group to be a part of. Everyone is super supportive which makes training a lot more fun!
