Dominique Sabbs is a dedicated leader, athlete, and advocate within Chicago’s running community, proudly serving the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) for the past five years. Throughout her tenure, she has become a driving force for representation, access, and equity in a sport and industry predominantly shaped by men.

As a young African American woman rising within the running world, Dominique has continually broken barriers, not only through her accomplishments at CARA, but through her leadership, presence, and commitment to creating pathways for others. Her work embodies CARA’s mission to expand accessibility to running and making sure all participants feel welcomed, seen, and supported in the running space.

Dominique’s contributions span community engagement, ‘Go Run™ program development, Run Crews, race-day leadership, and the ongoing elevation of underrepresented voices within running. Whether she’s supporting new runners at their first community event or advocating for inclusion, she moves with purpose, compassion, and extraordinary dedication.

After joining the CARA staff in the fall of 2020, over the past five years, Dominique has become an essential part of CARA’s growth and evolution. Her achievements continue to set new standards as she now leads CARA’s largest race each year (‘Go Run™ Turkey Trot).

The ‘Go Run™ program has also earned local and national awards during Dominique’s tenure as it won Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Outstanding Beginning Running Program of the Year Award in 2021, and was also recognized locally by Chicago Run for the Go the Distance Award. She continues to open new doors and inspire the next generation of runners who look to her as proof that they belong. With every step she takes, Dominique Sabbs reflects excellence, representation, and the future of our running community.
