SOLDIER FIELD – Despite the Bears season being over for several weeks now, action could still be found at historic Soldier Field this past Saturday as over 2,500 runners took to the Lakefront path for the 16th annual F3 Lake Half Marathon & 5K. The race took off just steps from the iconic stadium and runners traveled north before heading on an out-and-back loop on the southern portion of the trail. Runners enjoyed rather balmy temperatures as it was one of the few days above freezing during the month of January. The event also included a 5K race which kicked off 30 minutes after the half marathon. The race is one of the rare chances runners have in the winter months to get a fitness check before the racing schedule picks up in March.

The overall winner was none other than Chandler Gibbens, who last summer was the first runner to break the 4 minute mile barrier outdoors in Chicago at PUMA’s Chi-Town Miles. Chandler blazed his way to a course record of 1:05:13 (4:58 pace) as he continues to win and set records throughout the Chicagoland area.
Claire Krummenacher, who was one of the top runners on the Chicago Racing Circuit in 2024, took home the women’s title running an impressive 1:18:04 (5:57 pace).
CARA once again had strong representation at the event as 190 runners participated in the 12 week Winter Half Marathon program which specifically targets the F^3 Half Marathon each year. CARA also provided hydration support as they managed aid stations 4 and 6 along the course.
Congratulations to all the runners!
